VISIT FLORENCE IN ONE DAY
Florence, the cradle of the Italian Renaissance, a city known all over the world for its immense artistic, historical and architectural heritage, as well as one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Visiting Florence in 1 day is very difficult, you will have to make decisions because you can't see everything. Our itinerary, created for you, gives you the possibility to organize your visit dedicating the first day to the most important attractions, the second to the less known treasures and the third to discover the city's surroundings, so that you can choose the best options depending on your period of stay and ensure an unforgettable experience. Otherwise, if you wish to make an experience from your stay, choose an Italian language course with italianme, and live Florence! Prepare your walking shoes to explore and discover Florence, an open-air museum!
Let's start our tour from Santa Maria Novella station, where most tourists arrive; from here, take Via Panzani and arrive at Piazza del Duomo where you will find the wonderful complex of the Duomo of Florence.
Cathedral of Florence. In the Piazza del Duomo you can see the majestic and beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, better known as the Duomo of Florence with the Dome of Brunelleschi and the Bell Tower of Giotto, two masterpieces of Italian art, there is also the Baptistery of St. Giovanni. Looking at the church, on your left is via Ricasoli, walk through it until you reach the Accademia Gallery.
David de Michelangelo - Accademia Gallery. This gallery houses the authentic statue of David by Michelangelo, an icon of Italian art and a must for those visiting Florence. Here it is also possible to see the group of sculptures by Michelangelo: "The Prisoners" and the St. Mathew, together with paintings from the 14th and 15th centuries.
Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). When you leave the Academy, turn left, cross the Piazza del Duomo and walk through the shopping streets of the historic center, you will pass by the beautiful Piazza Della Repubblica, the curious fountain of Porcellino until you reach the Arno river. Here you can see the famous Ponte Vecchio, a symbol of the city, where you can admire the old goldsmith's shops and the showcases of the jewelers. Crossing the Ponte Vecchio you will reach the district of Oltrarno, but we will keep this pearl for the second day itinerary of the visit.
Returning from the Ponte Vecchio, turn right and walk along the Arno, a few steps is the entrance to the Piazzale degli Uffizi.
Uffizi Gallery. A dream destination for art lovers and perhaps Italy's most famous museum, full of unique works of art. The Uffizi Gallery is the oldest museum in Europe and houses one of the largest collections of paintings in the world.
Piazza Della Signoria (Signoria Square). Located next to the Piazzale degli Uffizi is one of the most beautiful squares of Florence and Italy, the center of the political life of the city since the 14th century. Here you can admire the Palazzo Vecchio, the old town hall and today the headquarters and the museum of the Municipality of Florence.
After a spectacular day, the only advice we can give you, given the large number of tourists who visit Florence each year, is to prepare for a new intense day by reserving your tickets and your guided tours online, so that you save time by avoiding the queues at the entrance to the museums.
VISIT FLORENCE IN TWO DAYS
Start your second day at St. Mark’s Square.
St. Mark’s Museum. Located in a former monastery of the 13th century, here you can admire the splendid architecture of Renaissance monasteries and visit the museum that houses the largest collection of works of Fra Angelico. From here we will walk towards the district of San Lorenzo.
Medici Chapels. They are part of the monumental complex of San Lorenzo and the Cappella Dei Principi where six Grand Dukes of the Medici are buried. You can also visit the New Sacristy, built by Michelangelo, for which the artist produced the statues found on the sarcophagi.
The San Lorenzo Market. Spend a little time discovering this historic market, which has two parts, an external part with stalls (where you can find clothes, souvenirs and numerous leather items such as handbags, belts, wallets), the other part is inside, called Central Market, dedicated mainly to food, so if you are hungry, it is the right place to taste the best street food in the city.
In the afternoon, walk to the district of Oltrarno, where you can visit the majestic Pitti Palace, which houses the Palatine Gallery and the Boboli Gardens.
Palatine Gallery. This fascinating art gallery is located in the last residence of the Medici, the Palazzo Pitti. A gallery that compiles the largest of the princely collections preserved intact to this day in their original historical setting.
Boboli Gardens. It was born as the garden of the residence of the Pitti Palace and is considered the first example of Italian garden and a source of inspiration for many European courts. Currently, this is a historic park in the city of Florence opened to visitors in 1766. The Boboli Gardens will undoubtedly be a very pleasant stop on your visit to Florence.
Piazzale Michelangelo. Finish your day with a last effort and arrive in time for the sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo. A terrace over the city of Florence that offers a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the Arno River.
VISIT FLORENCE IN THREE DAYS
On your third day in Florence, we suggest that you leave the city and visit Tuscany, the undeniable protagonist in the world tourism scene with more than 2000 years of history, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions of Italy. The offer is very wide, but you can choose between destinations with breathtaking views that only Tuscany can offer you:
- Pisa and its Square of Miracles, with the Leaning Tower, a place capable of unleashing a beauty without a storm.
- Lucca, the city of art, one of the most beautiful and beloved cities of Tuscany.
- Arezzo, an ancient city, one of the main Etruscan settlements and then a Roman center of strategic importance.
- Cortona, a small medieval village in the Valdichiana surrounded by ancient Etruscan walls and built on a hill about 600 meters high.
- Siena, the heart of Tuscany, is one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Italy with its famous Piazza del Campo and the Torre del Mangia.
- Montalcino, a medieval city that reveals to the visitor its ancient military structure, characterized by narrow and steep streets, but with a breathtaking view!
- Chianti, the land of wine. One thing is for sure, you can not come to this region without tasting the food and the Tuscan tradition of wine. The vineyards are distributed in the hills, which form a sweet and undulating chain, giving rise to the well-known red wine of Chianti DOCG. This wine combines perfectly with the typical products of the area, such as cheeses and sausages, as well as with the local cuisine prepared with dishes that recover traditional foods and that, today, have become ingredients of the most refined international cuisines.
