Marvel at its extraordinary golden mosaics, which made St. Mark’s Basilica a symbol of the wealth and power of the Serenissima. The original construction of this building dates back to the 9th century, with the aim of housing the relics of St. Mark, which, according to tradition, were stolen by two Venetian merchants in Alexandria, Egypt. In the following centuries, numerous reconstruction and expansion projects were undertaken, including the elevation of the domes in the 1200s and the decorations made in the 15th century. Between the 14th and 16th centuries, the Baptistery, the Chapel of St. Isidore, the Sacristy, and the Zen Chapel were added. Once completed, the Basilica represented a perfect artistic blend of the various eras.

Note: The ticket includes entry to the Basilica only. The Pala d'Oro, the Treasures of St. Mark, and the Loggia dei Cavalli are not included.

Where to collect your ticket

On the day of the visit you will have to go to the entrance of the St. Mark's Basilica with your ticket. Remember to arrive 15 minutes before the booked time

Remember

If you are late, you will lose your reservation and no refund will be made.
Only decorously dressed persons are allowed to enter the sacred places (short shorts, miniskirts, tank tops and hats are forbidden).
Behaviour inside the Basilica should be in accordance with the religious character of the building.
Minors are not allowed to enter without being accompanied by an adult.
