Thanks to the explanation of an expert guide, you will discover the ancient residence of Emperor Nero, the Domus Aurea. The residence owes its name ("golden house" in Latin) to the precious mar-bles and to the vaults of the ceilings decorated with precious stones and gold that adorned the walls, while the wonderful frescoes in the interior greatly influenced the Renaissance magnificent artists.
Currently it is possible to visit what remains of the wealth of the palace, since after the emperor's death, his successors looted and tried to cancel all traces.
The visit also includes the exhibition dedicated to Raphael, organized on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the artist's death. A one-of-a-kind exhibition in terms of both location and theme, focused on the rediscovery of ancient painting buried in the "caves" and the interpretation given by Raphael and his followers to the "magical art" of the grotesques.
