The city of Ercolano was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD and was rediscovered in the 18th century due to Bourbon explorations. According to the legend, the city was founded by Hercules in 1243 BC. It became a place for the Roman aristocracy, many buildings were constructed, which were first damaged by the earthquake of 62 AD and later buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.
With your expert guide and a group of maximum 20 people, you can step back in time and discover how the inhabitants of this important Roman centre lived.

The meeting point with the guide will be in front of the ticket office of the Ercolano excavations, in Via dei Papiri Ercolanensi. It is recommended to arrive 15 minutes before the starting time of the tour.
