Palazzo Vecchio was built in medieval times by Arnolfo di Cambio and in 1540 it became the home of the most important family in the history of Florence, the Medici, who lived there for a couple of decades before moving to Palazzo Pitti. Today, Palazzo Vecchio is the seat of the Florence City Hall.
Your visit will begin in the elegant courtyard of Michelozzo and continue to the first floor, where your guide will lead you to the majestic Salone dei Cinquecento, the most emblematic room of the Palace, which still hosts many ceremonies today. You will then visit the private rooms of Francesco I dei Medici, the private flats of Eleonora da Toledo and the chapel magnificently decorated by Bronzino. You will admire beautiful frescoes, statues and paintings by great Renaissance artists such as Donatello, Michelangelo, Verrocchio and many others; you will see the funerary mask of Dante Alighieri, the original Judith and Holofernes, a masterpiece by Donatello, and the Hall of Maps. Inside this room there is a secret passage, who knows if you will be able to discover it?
