The Basilica of Santa Croce is an important symbol of Florence and a must-see destination during your stay in the city. Here great theologians, artists, religious, politicians and men of letters met, and inside are the tombs of great figures of Italian history: Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and Ugo Foscolo. The latter dedicated his famous work of the same name to these sepulchres, which remains to this day a fundamental passage in Italian literature.
With your guide you can also admire the many chapels of the various historical Florentine families, including that of the Medici and that of their bitter enemies, the Pazzi. You will also see magnificent frescoes by Giotto and statues by Donatello.
Inside the Basilica of Santa Croce there is also a funerary monument dedicated to Dante Alighieri, although his remains are preserved in Ravenna.
